1. Who We Are & Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the HabitMo mobile application (available on Android via the Google Play Store and iOS via the Apple App Store) and the official website located at https://habitmo.com (collectively, the “Services”), operated by the HabitMo team (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
By downloading, installing, or accessing HabitMo, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with any terms of this policy, please do not use our application or website.
2. Information We Collect
We strive to collect only the minimum amount of data required to deliver a reliable habit tracking experience:
A. Information You Provide Directly
- Habit Tracking Data: Habit names, categories, target frequencies, reminder times, streak logs, completed check-ins, notes, and color themes. By default, this data is saved locally on your physical device.
- Account Information (Optional): If you choose to create an account or sign in for cross-device synchronization, we collect your email address and authentication credentials (or token if using Google Sign-In or Apple ID).
- Feedback and Support Inquiries: When you contact our support team via email, we receive your email address, message content, and any diagnostic logs or screenshots you willingly attach.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Device and App Performance Data: Non-personally identifiable diagnostic information including device model, operating system version, app version, language preference, and anonymous crash telemetry (e.g., via Google Play Console and Firebase Crashlytics) to diagnose bugs and improve app stability.
- Aggregated Usage Metrics: Anonymous interaction metrics (such as feature adoption rates or session count) that help us understand how users navigate HabitMo, without linking this activity to individual identities.
C. Device Permissions
- Notifications (Optional): Required only if you enable habit reminder alarms. We use local notifications on your device so that reminders trigger at your specified times without transmitting your schedule to external servers.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
To preserve your digital privacy, HabitMo specifically does NOT collect, store, or process:
- Precise GPS location or background location data.
- Biometric data (fingerprint, facial recognition).
- Financial account numbers, bank details, or credit/debit card credentials (in-app purchases are handled directly by Google Play or Apple App Store).
- Contacts, microphone audio, camera feeds, or SMS contents.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect solely for the following legitimate purposes:
- Core Functionality: To calculate habit streaks, log completion history, send scheduled reminder notifications, and display visual progress charts.
- Application Reliability: To monitor crash logs, reproduce technical bugs, and release performance updates.
- Customer Support: To troubleshoot issues reported by you and provide technical assistance.
- Compliance & Security: To enforce our terms, prevent fraudulent abuse, and fulfill legal requirements.
5. Data Storage & Security
Local-First Architecture: HabitMo utilizes on-device storage (such as encrypted SQLite/Room or LocalStorage) to keep your habit records on your device. You can track your daily habits seamlessly offline without requiring an active internet connection.
Data Transmission Security: When data is transmitted (e.g., during support requests or optional cloud sync), all network communication uses industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS 256-bit encryption) to protect data from unauthorized interception.
6. Third-Party Services & SDKs
We may use trusted third-party service providers to facilitate app operations, error logging, and platform infrastructure. These providers only have access to anonymous or pseudonymized technical data needed to execute their functions:
7. Data Retention & Deletion Rights
In compliance with Google Play Store User Data policies and international privacy regulations, you have full control over your data retention:
How to Delete Your Data
- In-App Deletion: You can delete individual habits, archive routines, or clear all application data directly via the app settings.
- Uninstalling the App: Because data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling HabitMo or clearing the app storage in your device settings will permanently erase all local habit records from your hardware.
- Account & Cloud Data Deletion Request: If you registered an account or cloud backup, you may request permanent deletion of your account and associated cloud records by emailing support@habitmo.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”. We will process and confirm deletion within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
HabitMo is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain European jurisdictions). We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please contact us immediately at support@habitmo.com, and we will promptly delete such information.
9. Your Legal Rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on your geographic location, you may have specific statutory privacy rights:
- Right of Access: The right to request copies of personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: The right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete records.
- Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): The right to request that we erase your personal data under certain conditions.
- Right to Restrict Processing & Object: The right to object to or restrict processing of your personal information.
- Right to Data Portability: The right to request transfer of the data that we have collected to another organization or directly to you.
- Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you, deny services, or charge different prices for exercising any of your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please submit your request to support@habitmo.com. We respond to all verified requests within thirty (30) days.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may periodically update our Privacy Policy to reflect modifications in our features, legal standards, or technical infrastructure. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. For material changes, we may also provide an in-app notice or alert. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
